Urgent Action Needed - In Support of Ruby's Law

Dear [MP's Name],

I am writing to you as a concerned constituent and a supporter of Ruby's Law, a campaign which seeks to increase protections for victims of domestic abuse and their pets through legislative change.

Research has shown that 90% of households experiencing domestic abuse in England and Wales reported that animals were also abused by the perpetrators, and in 12% of these households, the pet was killed. Domestic abuse survivors often delay leaving an abusive home or remain in dangerous situations because they fear for the safety of their pets, which are not currently protected under family law.

The Ruby's Law campaign has set out some key legislative changes to ensure both human and animal victims receive the protection they deserve, including amendments to the Family Law Act 1996, Occupation Orders and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

As my elected representative, I urge you to:
1. Publicly support Ruby's Law and advocate for its inclusion in parliamentary discussions.
2. Push for immediate legislative action to ensure survivors of domestic abuse are not forced to choose between their safety and that of their pets.

Ruby's Law is a crucial step toward protecting some of the most vulnerable members of our society. I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your response.
